NSW Police are investigating a huge beach party in North Bondi on Sunday evening over concerns the event may have breached COVID-19 gathering rules.
Crowds of carefree party goers can be seen in a video dancing and jumping up and down to drum beats.
Under COVID-19 rules in force in Greater Sydney, no more than 30 people can gather outside in a public place including parks, reserves, beaches and public gardens.
NSW Police said they were looking into whether restrictions had been breached.
“Police are aware of the matter and are conducting inquiries,” a spokeswoman said.
The footage emerged as NSW recorded no new locally transmitted coronavirus cases.
In the 24-hour period ending at 8pm on Sunday, eight cases were confirmed in overseas travellers who are in hotel quarantine.
Three pubs in Sydney’s west – Auburn’s Village Tavern, the Auburn Hotel and the Berala Hotel – were added to the latest COVID-19 venue alerts list on Monday as NSW Health tries to track down the source of infection for a recently confirmed case.
Health authorities are also urging anyone who has been to the Auburn Central shopping centre or the Auburn shops along Queen Street and South Parade at any time since January 1 and have had symptoms to get tested and isolate until a negative result is received.
